Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission To Meet Sept. 8-9 In Missoula

Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in Missoula, Sept. 8-9, beginning both days at 8 a.m. at the FWP Missoula regional headquarters, 3201 Spurgin Rd. Wednesday, Sept. 8 will be a work session followed by the regular business meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9.   

The commission will make final decisions Sept. 9 on:

* extending a National Parks Service lease on the Bear Paw Battlefield,

* 2004 Future Fisheries Program project funding,

* introduction of walleye west of the Continental Divide, 

* rules for the annual moose and sheep auctions and deer and elk auctions or lotteries, and 

* the preserve designation at Lone Pine Game Preserve near Kalispell.

Tentative decisions will be made on a no-wake zone proposed for the north end of Seeley Lake; the rule for the 2005 non-resident combination license; and renewal of a hunting access agreement near Billings.

  Informational items on the agenda for the Sept. 8 work session include special recreation permits on the Blackfoot; the elk management plan; a plan to relocate trumpeter swans to the Blackfoot Valley; and introduction of walleye west of the Continental Divide. A public hearing on the walleye issue will also be held that evening at 7 p.m. at Ruby’s Inn in Missoula, at 4825 N. Reserve St.
