Region 6 Citizens Advisory Council meets Sept. 11 in Havre  

Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Region 6 Citizens Advisory Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Havre’s Great Northern Hotel to hear an update on proposed wolf management in Montana when the predators are removed from federal protection.

 

The CAC will also discuss proposed fishing and big-game hunting regulations and hear an overview of the American Prairie Foundation’s work in Region 6. The meeting will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., with a break for dinner, and is open to the public. Comments from the public will be accepted starting at 2:20 p.m.

 

The CAC will hear a presentation from 4 to 6 p.m. on the history and current status of wolf recovery in Montana and an overview of the planning process for state wolf management following federal delisting. The public is welcome to attend and time will be reserved for questions and open discussion.

 

This will be the first meeting for four of the 16 citizen advisors. New members are: Connie Iversen of Culbertson, Steve Sukut of Glasgow, Bernie Hart of Hinsdale and Carl Totman of Malta.

 

The 15 members of the Region 6 Citizens Advisory Council represent various communities and interest groups and advise Fish, Wildlife & Parks on a variety of issues and topics. Call FWP’s Glasgow office at 228-3700 if you need special accommodations to attend the Sept. 11 meeting.
