State-record catfish replica on display at FWP  

The public is invited to Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Region 6 headquarters in Glasgow to view a replica of the state-record channel catfish caught last year in Nelson Reservoir. The 29.71-pound catfish was caught last May by 10-year-old Eli Waters and his grandfather Jim Jones, both of Malta, and broke the previous record by more than two pounds.

 

FWP worked with local taxidermist Kent Morehouse and a Texas company that specializes in plastic fish reproductions to have a second replica made, free of charge, for Waters and Jones. FWP presented the anglers with their fish last week.
