Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Region One is implementing Alternative C of the Environmental Assessment for West Shore, Lake Mary Ronan, and Finley Point State Parks thinning projects. Alternative C combines the three parks into one project, instead of three separate projects. The EA was completed on October 10, 2007, after the 30-day public comment period. A finding of no significant impact was made in the decision notice, and the project has went out to bid and is now ready for implementation. The forestry projects for West Shore, Lake Mary Ronan and Finley Point State Parks will begin during the week of January 14 th, 2008. The thinning projects are scheduled to run through March, depending upon suitable weather and ground conditions. West Shore State Park will remain open during the project. Fish, Wildlife, and Parks would like to warn park visitors to use caution when driving on the park roads, as there may be equipment and people working. Lake Mary Ronan and Finley Point State Parks will be closed during the thinning operations. FWP asks visitors, for their safety, to respect and comply with both of these park’s closures.
