Chief Plenty Coups State Park plans day of honor

BILLINGS — Chief Plenty Coups State Park at Pryor will hold a “Day of Honor” Saturday, Aug. 30 with historical, cultural and artistic activities.

The celebration starts at 10 a.m. at the state park and continues throughout the day. Activities include a Crow historical account of the Arrow Creek Battle presented by Elias Goes Ahead and Howard Boggess. The Black Whistle Drum Group and a presentation by Ken Bruno about Native American games are scheduled around displays of native arts and crafts and a silent auction.

Park officials plan interpretive events at Chief Plenty Coups’ house and burial site and the medicine springs and museum on the state park.

The day will wrap up with a public buffalo feast at the Chief Plenty Coups home site.
