Region 6 CAC Meeting Slated in Malta

MALTA, Mont. – The Region 6 Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) will hold its quarterly meeting at the Tin Cup Bar and Grill in Malta on Tues., Sept. 23. The public is invited to attend.

Along with installing new and reappointed members, the council will hear presentations on area Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service wilderness proposals and the status of archery elk working group issues.

In addition, the CAC will discuss pending Private Land/Public Wildlife Council draft recommendations regarding hunter behavior, hunting access to private land, FWP’s Block Management Program, nonresident licenses and outfitted hunting. Also on tap are updates on Region 6 programs and initiatives, as well as a roundtable discussion among members.  

The meeting will run from 1 – 6 p.m., with dinner to follow. Transportation from the Glasgow area to Malta and back will be available.

Each of FWP’s seven regions has a CAC, which is comprised of volunteers who serve three-year terms. The primary role of the councils is to offer informed advice to the department on a vast array of issues, programs and policies.

The Region 6 CAC currently has 15 members. They are: Richard Stuker, Chinook; Connie Iversen, Culbertson; John Crohn, Dagmar; Tom Burch and Darlyne Dascher of Fort Peck; Dennis Idler, Scott Billingsley and Steve Sukut of Glasgow; Fran Buell, Gildford; Bernie Hart, Hinsdale; Carl Totman, Malta; Les Schaaf, Saco; Robert Smith, Poplar; Dustin Hill, Scobey; and William Buckley, Fairview.

Buckley and Schaaf are incoming members on the council; Buell, Burch, Dascher and Hill have been appointed to new terms.
