Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission To Meet Oct. 16 In Helena

Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet Oct. 16 at the FWP Helena Headquarters, 1420 East 6 th Ave, beginning at 8 a.m.  

Commissioners will make final decisions on the proposed 2009 fishing regulation changes, the 2008-2009 FWP Region 3 elk game-damage permit adjustment and the acquisition of a fishing access site on the Sun River four miles west of Vaughn on Highway 200. To review the proposed 2009 fishing regulation changes, and a summary of the public’s comments, go to the FWP web site at fwp.mt.gov   on the Fishing page.

Up for tentative approval is the 2009 Commission meeting schedule, the Montana State Parks biennial fee rule, the Smith River special use area rule, and the commercial use permit fee rule.

The commission will also consider endorsing proposals for acquisition of habitat along Swimming Woman Creek in Golden Valley, northwest of Roundup, and a fishing access site on the Big Hole River to replace the High Road FAS west of Twin Bridges damaged by high water this spring.

At 10 a.m. there will be an opportunity for the public to address other FWP issues not on the agenda.
