Deep, wet snow that blanketed the region kept many hunters home for the antelope rifle season opening day. And those who went to the field in southeastern Montana found limited success. MT Fish, Wildlife and Parks operated a game check station near Hysham during the second weekend of the Antelope rifle season. Hunters did find some success with several different species once the weather changed and conditions began to dry out. Check station results show that 173 hunters harvested 117 Antelope, 4 Mule Deer (archery), 1 Turkey and 89 upland game birds. Hunting conditions improved dramatically for the second weekend of the Antelope rifle season. The big game rifle season opens Sunday, October 26, 2008.
