BILLINGS — The Marshall Cove campground and boat ramp at Cooney State Park reopened this week after nearly two months of improvements to its internal roads and campsites. During the construction, Matriarch Construction of Laurel raised the elevation of 23 campsites and an internal road that were flooded during high runoff this past spring. The improvements mean that all facilities at Marshall Cove, on the southeastern corner of Cooney Reservoir, will be usable when spring runoff fills the reservoir. For more information, call Cooney State Park at (406) 445-2326 or the Region 5 Fish, Wildlife and Parks office in Billings at (406) 247-2940. Cooney State Park is about 40 minutes south of Billings and accessible by county road from either Boyd or Columbus. It is one of 50 state parks in Montana. With numerous parks spread throughout the diverse terrain of the state, residents can experience Real Montana without leaving their backyard.
