Wolves killed a domestic cow on private land in the Big Hole Valley east of Wisdom. USDA Wildlife Services confirmed the depredation on Oct. 27.

This is the same area where wolves killed three domestic cows and injured one earlier in Oct. Personnel have not been able to collar a wolf and will continue that effort. It is still not known which wolves were involved in this incident or past incidents.

FWP authorized Wildlife Services to remove two wolves and a shoot on sight permit to the landowner for two wolves.

To learn more about Montana’s wolf population, visit FWP online at www.fwp.mt.gov/wildthings/wolf, where visitors can tell FWP when they see wolves or wolf sign. The information helps verify the activity, distribution, and pack sizes of Montana’s wolf population.
