The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) and Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP), are evaluating a proposed land exchange in Ravalli County. Under the proposal, FWP would exchange approximately 368 acres within the Sula State Forest to DNRC for lands of equal value within or adjacent to the Calf Creek and Threemile WMAs (240 acres). This exchange will allow both DNRC and FWP to consolidate their holdings and provide for improved management of their respective lands. The public is invited to comment by reviewing the draft environmental assessment posted below, or by attending a public hearing to be held on December 17, 2008 at the Bitterroot National Forest headquarters in Hamilton, beginning at 6:30 P.M.
