Welcome to biking in Montana. Many trails around the state are suitable for bikers from—beginners to experts. Also, many groups organize biking events. Check your local bike shops for maps, books, and information on biking groups.

Montana Associations

Biking
  • Adventure Cycling—Get lots of information from Adventure Cycling in Missoula about cycling, stafety, biking trails, and routes all over the country.
  • BikeNet—This group in Billings is dedicated to trail education, acquisition, and development, and encourages alternative transportation that encourages safety and a healthy lifestyle.
  • Bicycle Clubs—Check out these great groups based in Montana that are committed to cycling promotion and education.
    • Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club—Join the Bozeman-based cycling club and meet fellow cyclers. This website lists races, events, and other information.
    • Helena Bicycle Club—With a motto of “No one is ever left behind!” it is not a wonder that members of the Helena Bicycle Club are excited about bicycling. Check out their site for upcoming events/rides.
    • Mountain Bike Missoula—This group is a nonprofit organization supported through members, grants and an annual Tour de Fat fundraiser. Their mission is to promote responsible mountain biking in western Montana.
    • Missoulians on Bicycles—This group is affiliated with Adventure Cycling Association and the League of American Bicyclists and was established to promote cycling in Montana.
National Associations
  • International Mountain Bicycling Association—An international non-profit organization, with a worldwide network of 32,000 individual members, over 450 bicycle clubs, more than 130 corporate partners and about 200 bicycle retailers, encourages low-impact riding and volunteer trail work participation.
  • American Motorcyclists Association—This organization originated in 1924. If motorcycling is your passion, check out this site. They work to pursue, protect, and promote the interests of motorcycle enthusiasts.
